The Sky-Watcher 8mm to 24mm focal length zoom eyepiece provides for flexible power without the need to change eyepieces to vary magnification. For certain applications, particularly terrestrial utilization with a short focal length instrument, a zoom eyepiece can be very desirable. The field of view is typically narrower than for a dedicated focal length eyepiece which limits its desirability for astronomical use. It also provides a slightly dimmer image than a dedicated focal length eyepiece due to the more complex zoom focusing mechanics. Best for terestrial use.
