The What's Up? Webcast Webcast-A-Thon Xtreme

The What's Up? Webcast Webcast-A-Thon Xtreme

An all-day livestreaming extravaganza of product announcements, news, panel discussions, and interviews with astronomy’s most-beloved brands, organizations, and personalities

Torrance, CA (March 24, 2022) – Sky-Watcher is announcing the first ever WHAT’S UP? WEBCAST WEBCAST-A-THON XTREME on April 8th, 2022, 10am-6pm PST, on Sky-Watcher’s YouTube channel followed by a virtual star party livestreaming from SkiesAway Remote Observatories.  Join Sky-Watcher and a veritable “who’s who” of the consumer telescope industry, science communicators, non-profit organizations, observatories, and astrophotographers to celebrate astronomy, science, and the growing community of star gazers around the world.

The Webcast-a-thon will be comprised of ten pre-recorded interviews with industry leaders and four one-hour live panel discussions covering Astronomy 101, Social Media, Optics, and Astroimaging. Sky-Watcher will also be raffling off four Star Adventurer Pro Packages throughout the day to a few lucky viewers and will also have limited edition merchandise on sale in their Threadless store.

Sky-Watcher’s popular What’s Up? Webcast is nearing its 100th episode, but flashback to March 2020.  The consumer telescope industry was preparing to descend upon upstate New York for the annual Northeastern Astronomy Forum (NEAF) when the world was quarantined by the Coronavirus pandemic.  With all events postponed or cancelled, Sky-Watcher decided to start their own weekly webcast on YouTube to maintain contact with their fans, dealers, other manufacturers, and newcomers to the hobby of amateur astronomy and astrophotography – one of the faster growing hobbies around the world.  The hour-long webcast began featuring monthly night sky reports, Sky-Watcher product overviews, observing and imaging tips, and interviews with our friends in the industry.

Flash forward to today and Sky-Watcher’s webcast has amassed an impressive catalog of episodes featuring among others, a former astronaut, heads of the Griffith, Lowell, and Vatican observatories, resources for beginners and pros, in-depth shop talk, astronomy outreach organizations, and citizen science.
